In today's market, artist development is simply unrealistic because no one is willing to shell out the kind of dough necessary to break an artist because of the risk involved (which is understandable). It's become a business of forecasts, radio play, etc.

In terms of latin music, how many stars were born in the past year? Not many have been given the opportunity that Royce has. Cover or not, the stars have aligned for him. Now what he does with this opportunity is ultimately up to him.

Latin GRAMMY nominations will be announced Sept 8th. I'm hoping that bachata will make the noise needed to warrant the creation of its own category. We shall see.
